IMMERSIVE POINT OF INTEREST

Town Hall, Formerly Palazzo Visconti – Gambarini – Guida – Fugazzola

The imposing Palazzo Comunale (or, Town Hall formerly named the Palazzo Visconti – Gambarini – Guida – Fugazzola) overlooks the main street of the village of Misano. It extends across three levels, decorated with gables, corbels and the stone-framed entrance portal.

As the present-day Town Hall, the residence unfolds on a U-shaped plan. The lovely garden opens up beyond the courtyard, punctuated by pergolas and decorative elements reminiscent of 18th-century gardens of delights. Legend has it that even the Tsar of Russia stayed at the villa, trying his hand in hunting in the surrounding countryside and forests.

The interior decoration is also greatly evocative and immediately recalls the frescoes of Palazzo Visconti in Brignano with the faux architecture garlanded with flowers on the ceiling of the staircase, the mythological scenes and the inhabitants of Olympus that populate the rooms on the mezzanine floor.
Initially used by Barnabò Visconti as a hunting pavilion, actual construction of the Palazzo would begin around 1480.
