TOTAL DURATION

About ½ day

The history of the Rozzone family provides insight into the territories of the Bassa Bergamasca, which have been redeveloped and revitalised in recent times thanks to agricultural activities, which have always been the economic soul of these municipalities. In particular, heading to Castel Cerreto invites a discovery of the agricultural cooperative located here, which proposes a model of rural enterprise based on respect for nature and the enhancement of the territory in its landscape, cultural and human aspects.

½ day route:
The route set outs at Castel Cerreto, whose toponym derives from Cerido, the name by which the hamlet was referred to in a Treviso deed dated 1361. This is due to the presence of a deer forest nearby. The name Castel indicates the presence of the Rozzone family who had their residence here. Already inhabited in Roman times, an agricultural settlement developed in Castel Cerreto in 1539 at the behest of the Rozzone family, a noble Milanese clan that had already settled in the neighbouring municipality of Castel Rozzone.
